I love this series. My daughter does well in math to begin with, but this program is so perfect for her! Repeated instructions, easy to follow lessons, gradebook, it's the best I've found in 8 years of homeschooling.

We purchased the 5th and 6th grade cur. Loveit!!! I litterally do not have to force my kids to do their math. Considering my 6th grader doesn't particularly like math, this is a good thing for me. Only reason that I gave it 4.5 stars is we did find some erorrs and there is no way for me as a parent to go back and make changes do to computer error. Also, I must say that the lessons start out extremely easy. So if you have a fairly advanced child you may want to start one or two grade levels above what your child actully needs. Or better yet just take the placement test on-line at Teaching Textbooks website. After all it is free.

Great curriculum. It's a little expensive, but since math is so important, I felt like it was well worth it. It explains concepts well, and the kids have fun with it. I also love how the lower grades have a built-in gradebook.

We started with Math 6 this year. My son loves this program. Math has always been his least favorite subject. This program is what we've been looking for. "It's fun!" This is his reply when I ask him why he likes it. I'm also excited it is available through pre-calculus. Fabulous curriculum.

I hmschl my 6 kids & I'm not very gd at math.I have mainly done Alpha Omega Lifepac's(which is pretty gd 4 everything)but have had some trouble w/ math whn the kids get to 6th gr., there just isn't any more excitement and it is hard wk 2 get through the math. w/my daughter last yr(8th)we did Saxon 4 math & we were disappointed greatly! I wasn't sure what 2 try for math this yr, we even contemplated full dvd Abeka hmschool but that's $$$.so I ordered Teaching Txbk math 4 my 9th,& 6th gr.this yr...they are SO EXCITED ABOUT MATH NOW!(this has never been b4). 4 the 6th gr.the child chooses a character 2 "motivate" them on the screen,& chooses a voice 4 the character(my son likes the karate guy)if he gets stuck he can click him 4 a hint...2 cool! I am a busy mom so having curric. that totally directs my kid keeps their attentn & helps them learn-it is just the best!it is well worth the $. their time doing math has decreased, they learn the lesson in shorter time,4 the 6th gr. the scores are all saved,i don't have 2 correct anything,it is auto. The trouble i had w/ Saxn was they didn't give all the answers,& didn't clearly xplain everything...i was lost i would have to call in my oldest daughter(11th gr.she is doing Abeka dvd hmschl & is a math wiz)but it was a long learning process for all of us...daily... Alph O Lifepc was a little better for us than Sax, but it was hard for my then 7th gr....so we have been searching 4 a better way... The 9th gr. Teaching Txbk, gives more control 2 the child they have to correct their work, the daily work isn't auto scored, i am not yet sure about the tests...but every lesson is VERY WELL explained in the cd-roms, she was scared of algebra...she had been doing beg. algebra but was totally lost before, now there is an understanding of how algebra works etc. We are very pleased - the only thing i would change is give the older kids an option 2 have a character 2 motivate & give helps..(the 9th gr. doesn't have that feature)

I have yet to use this curriculum in the classroom, however my comments are more about the (Windows) issue. Yes, I'm a Mac user and always have been and never, ever, would consider a switch, not even for this fabulous Teaching Textbook program. O.K. Mac users, here's what I did... First you need a Mac with the Intel processor like the newer laptops. I've got a MacBook Pro. I quickly purchased Windows XP. Even though it is no longer produced, you may be able to find it in store inventory. I did this because I've heard Vista has way too many problems. (Another reason Mac users chuckle) I also purchased Parallels in order to run OSX and Windows at the same time without having to reboot. SWEEEEET! The installation process for Windows is excruciating in comparison to what us Mac users are familiar with. I've had a very limited experience with Windows and could not have completed this task without my Windows expert brother on the phone with his friendly IT guy. So, If you don't have access to 2 Windows experts, I would recommend you take it to your nearest Apple store and have a pro load it for you. It could save you numerous wasted hours, several words you'd rather not say, and you may actually like it better if you didn't have to struggle so much with it in advance. The struggle caused me to loathe Windows a little more than I should. I do have Math 5, Math 6 and a few other Windows only software working very well and am completely happy, well... except for the fact that Teaching Textbooks should have all their programs Mac Compatible, after all it is once again the leader in education.

These are great! Every since I have been buying these, math has been a whole lot easier. The program explains the lesson and then the child can go back and have each problem they missed explained. This software teaches the lesson for you and it is well worth the money. Do not compare this with the Life Pac software, which is really lame, this is well worth the cost difference. We also use the Algebra I and Algebra II for high school.
